   We bought a few switches to make our basic loop more fun. The switch comes with a quarter turn piece of track. You can chat the side that the switch post is on from the left to the right. This is caring in view of the fact that the post can get in the way on some layouts. It is well built and trains make it smoothly diagonally the switch without derailing. They are a bit pricey, but it makes your train set more fun. Be careful when ordering because there is a left hand and right hand switch.

   I own four of these switches and plot to buy four more. This product would be perfect except for the stupid small red target flag on the switch. It’s is just begging to be broken off and it is off two of mine. Our layout is on the carpet and that is how it will be for some time to come. I doubt we will ever built a permanent layout. Our layout is approx 7′x 9′ and has over 24 pieces of curve over 30 straight, bumpers, trestles and with the kids playing in and around the layout, this design flaw is irritating. We really like the Fastrack product as my kids and I can take it down, chat it around, add – subtract all on the carpet.

   Okay – once you realize that you will probably lose most of the small read flags through breakage don’t worry because the switch operates – is high quality and the loss of the flag does not interfere with the operation of the mechanism.

   I wanted to add that Fastrack is an pricey product and hard to get use to the budget needed to get a decent supply of parts. It is well worth it over the long haul as this material is built to last. We sold all our HO scale train material to go to O scale and my kids are having much more fun.
